1. Playas del Coco
The closest lively beach town, roughly a 30 minute drive from Liberia. Coco has a wide dark-sand bay, plenty of restaurants, shops, and boats for fishing or diving trips. It is the practical everyday beach town for many expats.
2. Playa Hermosa
Just north of Coco, Playa Hermosa lives up to its name, which means beautiful. It is a calm, curved bay with gentle water that is great for swimming, kayaking, and families. Quieter and more residential than Coco.
3. Playa Panama
Tucked inside Culebra Bay, Playa Panama is a protected, tranquil beach with very calm water. It is a favorite for paddleboarding and relaxed swimming, and it rarely feels crowded.
4. Playa Ocotal
A small, scenic cove just past Coco, Ocotal mixes dark sand with rocky outcrops that are excellent for snorkeling. Its calm, clear water and dramatic backdrop make it a favorite for a quieter day.
5. Playa Flamingo
